Naik Sugan Singh was posted in a unit of Rajputana Rifles at Indo-Pak Border in 1971. On
09 Dec 1971, orders were given to attack the enemy barricades at menawati. There were
concrete bunkers and firing was going on both sides by Medium Machine Guns. Nk Sugan
Singh understood seriousness of the situation and a volley of bullets fell on his shoulders.
Smeared with blood Nk Sugan Singh crawled upto the bunkers and threw grenades killing
two enemy soldiers. The second medium machine gun was under severe fire. Still, despite
being seriously wounded and utter disregard to his safety he kept crawling to the second
bunkers, killing 03 of the enemy’s solders, Nk Sugan Singh the hero of this action, exhibited
valor and determination true to the highness traditions of the army unparalleled.
